Man Alive
[October 2003] Man Alive is a secular, non-political organisation offering a broad range of counselling services and programmes. The goal is to support men and boys of all ages to gain understanding and strength in their relationships with partners, children, family and friends.
The Man Alive site makes an initial very good impression. The page is attractive, the font clear and readable. The page scales beautifully whether you have a large or small window and the good looks are supported by clearly written text.

Pictures are sparingly used to provide a lift to the page and it's pleasing to see alternate text for those whose graphics don't load. Pages load very quickly, as a result of sparse use of pictures and intelligent use of stylesheets and correct coding. Pages are made to be accessible to visitors with disabilities.
Many programmes are listed with details on dates, venues and activities. There's a Registration Form available at the site which you can print and send in with your fee.
Navigation is by a navigation bar on the left and also text links across the bottom. Unfortunately some pages can only be reached if you have Javascript switched on in your browser. Examples of this are the Recent News and Links, available only from a Javascript flyout menu. A Site Map or secondary navigation menu would solve this problem.
Summary: a good looking and useful site with slightly problematic navigation.
