Celebrating those that lead and manage our volunteers
Leaders of Volunteers will be recognised nationwide on International Volunteers Managers Day (IVM Day).
IVM Day is celebrated worldwide on 5 November every year. It gives people an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the achievements of those who give back so much to the community.
This year special recognition goes out to those managers who have contributed to both the Christchurch and Rena disasters.
Vanisa Dhiru, Executive Director of Volunteering New Zealand says that, “ongoing leaders also deserve our sincere thanks, with New Zealand Managers of Volunteer making volunteering possible for 34% of New Zealand’s population every day”.
“Research from Victoria University has also shown us that Managers of Volunteers are responsible for a 4.9% contribution to New Zealand’s GDP, every day” she says.
Many Volunteer Centres around New Zealand have various activities planned for those who lead volunteers so effectively. These take place to recognise and thank Managers of Volunteer for their massive contribution.
Volunteering New Zealand encourages Aotearoa to acknowledge those that work hard in the Volunteer Management sector.
“They have an extremely important role in society and deserve all the positive feedback they can get,” says Dhiru.
