Latest Generosity Indicators provide new insights on giving

A new Quarterly Generosity Indicators report is now available to coincide with the Philanthropy through the Looking Glass conference.

This analyses two new quarters worth of data. The research findings are compared with previous quarters and include analysis of the effects of major disasters such as the Pacific tsunami, Christchurch's September earthquake and the Pike River mine, which all occurred in the period for which data is now available.

This is the first time that we can gauge the impact of such events on the giving and volunteering behaviours of New Zealanders.

As more detail on the behaviours of givers becomes available, this will help community groups target who, where and how they recruit and engage prospective supporters.

The Office for the Community and Voluntary Sector (OCVS), in association with the Generosity Hub, commissions Nielsen Media Research to collect quarterly data on giving and volunteering in New Zealand.
