This site has excellent resources and checklists. You'll find much useful information under “best practice guides and guidelines”

There are particularly useful tools under “sustainable development”.
“Recycling systems in multi-tenanted buildings” explains:

  • how to minimise waste
  • how to set up recycling systems
  • case studies
  • undertaking a waste sort

Sustainability Trust

The Sustainability Trust is a Wellington based non-profit charitable trust which supports local communities in addressing sustainability related issues. Their project portfolio is currently focused on energy efficiency, waste minimisation, transport, climate change and community.

Econation

Econation is New Zealand’s independent source of information and education about environmental sustainability. The website has over 300 pages about sustainable energy, transport, water, consumer goods, waste and more.

Sustainable Measures

This website has  good training materials online and printed resources. It covers environmental indicators, that is indicators that measure progress towards a sustainable economy and environment.

Department of Sustainability and Environment (Victorian Govt, Australia)

Under "Conservation and Environment" and then "sustainability" there are good  checklists on sustainability in business.

Greenbiz

This website is for businesses concerned with being eco-friendly. Look under "resources' and then "tools."

In toolboxes this site covers:

This has a good  section on  microgeneration: that is how energy can be generated on a building-by-building basis.

This can be accessed through www.fis.org.nz and is a site giving tips on how to raise funds for environmental projects.

GreenNonprofits

GreenNonprofits is an accessible source of information about greening your nonprofit workplace, and a desktop tool to help any nonprofit become green[er].

The website breaks down the process of greening into three areas:

  • information about greening your nonprofit workplace
  • a certification program to help guide nonprofits and demonstrate their success to supporters
  • promotion of a greener nonprofit/NGO global community.
