Writing a great press release is a cost effective way to generate publicity for your organisation, but once written, you still need to know who to send it to.

The following websites provide contact details for the main media sources in New Zealand, but there are undoubtedly smaller, locally produced publications in your own area as well. Contact details for these publications are usually found on the inside front cover.

Be aware that the media receives hundreds, if not thousands of press releases every day. If you want your story to cut through the masses, it is important to start building a relationship with your media contact. Be more than ‘just another story’, phone them up, ask if you can meet them face to face, and don’t forget to say thank you when they run your piece.
