Marketing and Promotion Guide

All too often we are so focused on developing and delivering services that we forget - or don't know the best way - to promote them to clients, funders, and volunteers, etc.

A Marketing (or Promotions or Communications) Plan is an essential starting point, and this guide will help you write one for your organisation.

Getting started

The goal of marketing or promotion is to make people such as your clients, funders, and volunteers, want to 'do business' with you. So, where to begin?

The key to writing an effective marketing plan is in simply starting the process. Allow time for researching, organising and writing; read books and journals and talk to knowledgeable people.

The plan doesn't have to be a finished, written and bound tome for you to start using parts of it, and indeed, should be amended and revised as your organisation's circumstances change.
