Downloadable Māori Keyboard Definition
The Māori Keyboard Definition allows users of standard keyboards to be able to easily insert the extended characters used in Māori language, in a format displayable by commonly used browsers.
Developed by the University of Waikato and Microsoft, this downloadable file supports the use of the macron diacritical mark. The macron is placed above a vowel to indicate a long sound or phonetic value in pronunciation, such as (ā) in the word make.
After installing the Māori Keyboard Definition a user can press the ` (left quotation) key then any vowel.
For example, to type "ā" press the "`" key and then "a".
