The Social Report tracks information on the social health and well-being of New Zealand society. 43 indicators are used to measure levels of well-being, to monitor trends over time, and to make comparisons with other countries.

The 2006 report also includes times series information as well as Regional Indicators.

The 10 inter-connected components of well being reported on are:
  • health,
  • knowledge & skills,
  • paid work,
  • ecoonomic standard of living,
  • civil & political rights,
  • cultural identity,
  • leisure & recreation,
  • physical environment,
  • safety, and
  • social connectedness.
 
This 'social report card' on the nation covers both the good and the bad news and includes a wealth of notes and references.  It is published by the Ministry of Social Development.
