Description

The Quality of Life Project was established by local governments in 1999 to provide social, economic and environmental indicators of quality of life in New Zealand’s six largest cities. It was initiated in response to growing pressures on urban communities, concern about the impacts of urbanisation and the effects of this on the well being of residents.

The project has recently been expanded to include 12 territorial authorities: Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Hutt, Manakau, North Shore, Porirua, Rodney, Tauranga, Waitakere, and Wellington.

As well as the 2001 Report and 2003 Report, the website includes information on the Quality of Life Questionnaire, Residents Surveys, points of action, issues and changes arising from the research.
