Social Indicators

The the University of Otago, Wellington's social indicators research programme has been active since 1994, when work on the NZDep91 index of socioeconomic deprivation for small areas started.

Since then, the NZDep96, NZDep2001 and NZDep2006 indexes have been produced, along with numerous publications and 3 deprivation atlases for all of New Zealand. In 2004 the NZiDep index of socioeconomic deprivation for individuals was released.
