Voluntary value-added - Counting for something

To promote the visibility and value of voluntary organisations, the NZ Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations (NZFVWO) teamed up with PriceWaterhouseCoopers to count the value added by volunteers.

"Counting for Something: the Value Added of Voluntary Agencies" (September 2004) is a study of the economic value of the work of voluntary organisations. It provides an overview of the voluntary inputs of ten major social service organisations over a one year period.

It includes

  • detailed presentation of the data,
  • analysis and discussion of the themes arising from this study, and
  • an outline of the methodology and templates used in the research process (which could be used by other organisations in similar research).

You can download a copy of the full report Counting for Something (65 pages, PDF,388kb) or a Summary report (4 pages, PDF, 79kb) at no charge. A spiral-bound hard copy can be ordered from the NZFVWO for $15.00.

NZFVWO is a national umbrella group for voluntary social service agencies. As well as supporting its members, it also aims to promote the voluntary sector and its wider concerns.
