The Social Report 2009
The Social Report from the Ministry of Social Development provides information on the social health and wellbeing of New Zealand society.
Indicators such as Health, Knowledge & Skills, Civil & Political Rights, and Social Connectedness are used to measure levels of wellbeing, to monitor trends over time, and to make comparisons with other countries.
The report examines how people are faring in New Zealand, how this has changed over time, and varies for different groups in the population. It helps identify adverse trends in social outcomes at an early stage. While the report cannot always illuminate what is driving these trends, it can point to the need for further research to understand what is happening and what actions need to be taken to address them.
