Directions Work Book

The first of a set of work books to assist community organisations initiate and successfully manage their own ICT projects, called Directions, is now available in draft form and we would like feedback and comment on it.

One of our (Work Raft Trust's) major projects is to develop a set of work books to assist community organisations initiate and successfully manage their own ICT projects.

The first of these work books, called Directions, is now available in draft form and we would like feedback and comment on it. This work book was made possible with the assistance of the Community Employment Group.

Many questions and issues emerged at last year's Connecting Communities conference in Wellington: one of them was "We've heard a lot about ICT. We want to do something with it. Where do we start?" That is the question that Directions sets out to answer: it aims to help committed organisations or individuals identify a potential ICT project and establish a sound base for developing and defining this project.

Among the questions we have are:

  • Will the Directions work book help groups start a new ICT project?
  • Could the Directions work book help refine and breathe new life into existing projects?
  • How could the work book be improved?

We are particularly interested in the thoughts of those who might use the work book for a specific project. The draft document is available at: www.workraft.org.nz/Publications.htm. Although it is a long download we will be working to make the finished version much easier to download.

Once this consultation phase is completed, Directions will be made available, at no charge, to everyone who has expressed interest in it.
