Membership changes to the Taskforce

It is with regret that the Community Sector Taskforce announces the resignation of Sharon Torstonson as the Tangata Tiriti South Island member. Sharon has served as a Taskforce member since 2005. We thank Sharon for her contribution and work particularly in advocating the South Island voice on the Taskforce and with key decision-makers in Government.

With the Sharon resignation the Taskforce would like to announce the appointment of Tim Weir as her replacement. Tim comes from a Southland farming background. He has been Services Coordinator at Delta Community Support Trust since finishing his studies in 2007.

Tim is enjoying being able to live and work in the same local area, developing a renewed sense of close place-based community. He has found through having a day-to-day life within walking or biking distance that work, church and going with his children to Playcentre among other things all become more interconnected and meaningful. At the same time, through Delta Trust, he is actively involved in wider Christchurch and national community and voluntary sector networks and organisations.

Being appointed to the Community Sector Taskforce in August 2010 fulfils an aspiration of his to participate more directly at a national level of policy development. The Community Sector Taskforce welcomes Tim and looks forward to working with him.
