Choosing people to help your organisation
Whether the people you are thinking of using are on these lists or not, here are some suggestions that we hope will help you choose someone to help your organisation. These suggestions were made by the
Lottery Pacific Provider Development Committee.
Training providers should broadly be able to satisfy the following definition:
PROVIDERS WITH RELEVANT EXPERTISE AND QUALIFICATIONS THAT WORK AND PRACTISE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL SECTOR FRAMEWORK.
Training providers should have strong networks and generally have credibility within your local Pacific community.
Training providers should have a proven track record of working within the Pacific community and a demonstrated ability of providing training in the forum of community development and social service provision as it relates to Pacific communities.
Training providers should be prepared to hold an initial meeting with your group to complete a NEEDS ASSESSMENT for your group.
Training providers should be able to demonstrate to your group that they are ABLE TO DESIGN A SPECIAL TRAINING PACKAGE to meet the unique and particular training needs of your individual groups.
Included in your proposed training package should be some FOLLOW UP SUPPORT from your training provider to ensure that knowledge gained is implemented in the running of your group and is retained for the future.
Agree with your training provider on a training budget and timeframe that suits you both before the training starts.
It may be an advantage for your group if the training provider was able to speak your own Pacific language and you should make this known.
Ask for the name of the person who will be doing the training and ask to see that person’s CV or some evidence that this person has a training background which is relevant and appropriate to the training needs of your group.
Training providers should declare any potential conflict of interest in being engaged to provide a training programme for your group.
