Skilled Migrant Programme - Interns Available

Johnson Group/Victoria University,

Are there projects on your desk that need completing, tasks that need doing, but not enough people to do them?

Do you need an extra staff member – a person with excellent skills, motivation, education and work experience?

We are seeking placements for the latest intake of skilled migrants on the Workplace Communications Programme at Victoria University.

These migrants are all proficient in English, are very well qualified and have considerable experience in their professions. They are currently completing six weeks of classroom programmes focusing on workplace communications.

We need local employers willing to provide a six-week (unpaid) internship related to their qualifications. (There is no obligation to offer paid employment once the six weeks are over.) To date, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

For this intake, we have migrants skilled in the areas of Accounting (both financial and management); Statistical and Data analysis; Database Management; Administration; Export and Marketing; and Credit Risk Management.

Requirements for the placements:

  • Dates for the internships are 28 April – June 6, 2008.
  • The workplace must be able to offer work four and a half days per week during the six week period. Hours are flexible, but we are hoping for a full-day (9am - 5pm) in most work places.
  • Wages are not expected.
  • The type of work offered is secondary to the opportunity for the course member to gain New Zealand work experience within their selected industry.
