Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand,
The Problem Gambling library catalogue: A quality filter for print and Internet resources is now online.
At last, a comprehensive 'one stop shop' for problem gambling information, fact sheets and resources. Now you can search in one place for gambling information, with the Problem Gambling library home page as a point of entry. The library has over 5,000 resources which include reports, articles, videos, DVDs, books and brochures. This material has been accumulated over the last 10 years and provides a historical background to gambling, the gaming industry, and problem gambling in New Zealand, as well as overseas.
We have expanded our services; there are no longer any geographical boundaries to service provision, and the library can be accessed 24/7. The library homepage also provides access to several academic databases for research for NGOs who don't have any full text services access elsewhere. The Problem Gambling Library is at: www.pgfnz.co.nz/library and the library catalogue is at: http://pgfnz.infospecs.co.nz.
Multiple formats, digital resources and technology, and the Internet have transformed the way that most people seek information. Many prefer searching the web to using a library, so the Problem Gambling library has adapted to this requirement and has incorporated this on its web page so that both procedures are accommodated.
The Problem Gambling online catalogue has well-designed and well-defined access points which can be searched by author, title or keyword (using controlled vocabulary). Many items are available as .pdf through links to appropriate website addresses. Those not available through links can be scanned and emailed as pdfs upon request from borrowers.
A guide to online problem gambling resources (in .pdf format) is available at:www.pgfnz.co.nz/files/Online_resources_PG_Guide.pdf.
The guide will be regularly updated as time allows.
