Call for nominations for NGO Working Group members

H&D Sector NGO-MoH Forum ,

The H&D Sector NGO-MoH Forum was set up in 2002 as an NGO and MoH response to the 2001 “Statement of Government Intentions for an Improved Community-Government Relationship”. The “executive” arm of this Forum is the Working Group and representatives of the H&D subsectors are elected annually, on a rotational basis to ensure consistency.

We are now calling for nominations for the following Working Group positions:

  • Maori health; Joanne Hayes; 2 years; Term expired - Current Vice-Chair; seeking re-election
  • Maori health; Carole Maraku; 2 years; Term expired - Seeking re-election
  • Maori health; Trudy Ake; 1 year; No contact/meeting attendance for over 6 months
  • Mental health; Karen Covell; 2 years; Term expired - Seeking re-election
  • Personal health; Barb Long; 2 years; Term expired - Seeking re-election
  • Public health; Jo Fitzpatrick; 2 years; Term expired – Current Chair ; Seeking re-election
  • Disability Support; Lorraine Bailey; 2 years; Term expired – recently appointed to fill vacancy created by Jackie Richardson’s resignation. Seeking election
  • Pacific health; Tiva Toeono; 1 year; Term expired - Seeking re-election for 1 year
  • Pacific health; 2 years; Vacancy –position not taken up by electee last election
To be eligible to vote and to nominate candidates for the election, NGOs must be registered. Those who have registered in the past will not need to re-register. Agency registration material was circulated last week. NGOs may join the register at any time.

  • the paper explaining the Working Group representation process
  • a Working Group candidate nomination form

Nominations for the Working group are being accepted now. Anyone from a registered agency can nominate a candidate for the Working Group by filling in the attached candidate nomination form. The nominated candidate will also need to sign the form.

Nominations will be validated at the October Forum.
A postal election will be held (by email) during October.
