Karaitiana Taiuru joins CommunityNet Advisory Group

CommunityNet Aotearoa Advisory Group and Dept. of Internal Affairs,

We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new community member to the CommunityNet Advisory Group: Karaitiana Taiuru of Kāi Tahu and the NZ Maori Internet Society, Christchurch.

The Advisory Group guides the direction and management of the CommunityNet Aotearoa website. Nominations were called for last year, resulting in five nominees, all with impressive skills and experience. Karaitiana brings a breadth of knowledge and representation to the Advisory Group, ensuring the group continues to be strong and balanced. The Department is confident the group will contribute significantly to the CommunityNet Aotearoa's continued success.

The newly appointed member joins:

  • David Henderson, Association of NGOs of Aotearoa, Wellington
  • Julia Stuart, Churches’ Agency on Social Issues, Wellington
  • Moana Tane, Nga Puhi, Te Roroa, Smokefree Coordinator, Dargaville
  • Peter Sykes, Mangere East Family Service Centre, Mangere East
  • Puipuifatu Antonio Seiuli, South Sound Missionary Trust, Dunedin

The Advisory Group meets three to four times each year in Wellington for a full day meeting. Planned meeting dates for 2007 are 8 March, 21 June (Strategic Review day), 13 September and 29 November. Meetings are open to all, with prior notice of attendance needed.
