Wellington City Council, Wellington
Wellington City Council has funding available for not-for-profit community groups and organisations undertaking projects that benefit the City socially, culturally, economically or environmentally.
The Council changed the structure of its grants schemes this year. The same level of funding is available from four grants pools that focus on a key strategic area for the Council (social, cultural, environmental and economic). Applications for the grants pools close at 5.00pm, Monday 31 July.
The changes mean that three funding rounds will be held annually — closing at the end of July, November and March.
Grants Subcommittee Chair Councillor Hayley Wain says the changed grants schemes should make it easier for groups and organisations to apply for grants. "By making all of the grants pools available at the same time, we expect organisations to make only one focused application per year, rather than applying to different pools throughout the year."
The Council will provide free information sessions on eligibility for grants, completing the application form, or sessions for those who want to know more about the recent changes to the grants pools. These will be held at the Council offices on Monday 10 July at 1.00pm or Wednesday 12 July at 1.00pm and 6.00pm.
The Council is also asking for expressions of interest from organisations willing to administer the Mayoral Relief Fund. This is a special fund of $20,000 available to those individuals in need of emergency assistance. The Wellington City Mission currently works in partnership with the Council to distribute the fund. Expressions of interest are requested by 31 July to decide who will administer the fund for the next three years.
