Consultation on Quality Flexible Work

The Department of Labour wants to hear your views about quality flexible work arrangements. The Transport and Industrial Relations Committee of Parliament has asked the Department to consult widely on the best ways to deliver flexible working hours to New Zealanders.

The Department has been working with business, unions and other workplace leaders to promote quality flexible work. They want to find out more about the issues for you and your workplace or business, and what will help employees and employers implement and manage flexible work arrangements.

The Department will be releasing a discussion paper in early November outlining the key issues and possible approaches for quality flexible work and will be inviting submissions on the paper until mid December. Consultation And Discussion Paper

The Department of Labour will be undertaking a consultation on quality flexible work in November / December.   

The Transport and Industrial Relations Committee has directed the Department to consult widely on the principles of and delivery mechanisms for flexible working hours. Information from the consultation will also be used in work the Department is doing with the business sector, unions and workplace leaders to promote quality flexible work in New Zealand workplaces.

The consultation will be supported by a discussion paper Quality flexible work: increasing availability and take up in New Zealand.

Purpose To seek public feedback on key issues relating to quality flexible work and ways to increase its availability and take up.
Target audiencesEmployees, employers, unions, employer groups, peak bodies, community groups and others interested in the issue.
Consultation period6 November 2006 to 15 December 2006 (six weeks).

  • workplace leaders and other peak agencies to  promote discussion and feedback
