Health Workforce Advisory Committee (HWAC) Care and Support in the Community Setting Discussion Paper: Invitation to comment.

The Health Workforce Advisory Committee (HWAC) has been tasked with preparing recommendations for the Minister of Health by the end of August this year on priority activities to develop the support workforce required to deliver future care and support services in the community, in particular, aged care and disability support services.
HWAC was delighted by the efforts of those able to attend our Care and Support Workforce — Issues and Challenges discussion day on 9 June in Wellington and by the clear messages participants gave on priority actions contributing to the development of the disability support workforce.
From this meeting HWAC has prepared a discussion paper outlining the issues discussed and making several recommendations. This is an exciting opportunity to provide comment to the Minister on sector workforce needs and HWAC welcomes your feedback on the attached discussion paper by 25 July 2006.
A feedback form has also been attached, with particular issues we would welcome further comments and clarification on. We would be grateful if you are able to return feedback forms to Delphina Gray at hwac@moh.govt.nz; or Health Workforce Advisory Committee, PO Box 5013, Wellington.
