Auckland adopts Community Group Assistance Policy

Auckland City, Auckland

Auckland City has a community vision to become the First City of the Pacific. It sets out what Aucklanders want their city to be by the year 2020.

To support this vision, Auckland City has adopted the Community Group Assistance Policy covering the various types of assistance it gives to community groups, including grants.

This policy means that we can respond more effectively to the needs of Auckland City's diverse community groups. It will also make sure our assistance targets community initiatives that support thecouncil's strategic direction.

As part of this policy, funding is available through the Community Group Assistance Fund (CGAF), which offers community groups the opportunity to apply for funding that will assist them with providing services and projects in the community. Previously CGAF had two separate pools of funding. These have now been combined into one fund of $410,000 available for distribution annually in one round.

Groups applying must demonstrate that their application provides citywide benefit. This means providing benefit to the community in 3 or more Auckland City Community Board areas (also applies to Gulf Islands).

Applications that demonstrate the priority area of "Building strong and healthy communities" are encouraged.
