Significant Community Based Projects Fund opens 1 September 2005.

Department of Internal Affairs, Nationwide

This Thursday, 1 September 2005, the Significant Community Based Projects Fund (SCBPF) opens for applications.

Why has the fund been established?

An increasing number of worthwhile community-based projects of regional and / or national significance are unable to progress either because they cannot access existing funding or because they cannot get enough funding.

What projects will be supported?

The fund has been established to support major community-based projects, which have significant support and participation from the community. They must have a range of benefits contributing to regional and / or national outcomes. Major community based projects are significant community facilities or major events that support the following outcomes:

  • Arts, culture and heritage;
  • Sport and recreation;
  • Tourism;
  • Conservation and the environment; and
  • Economic development.

One or two applications are likely to be successful in each annual funding round.
