- How much does it cost?
- The service is free for people working in and with tangata whenua and community and voluntary organisations. We don't accept paid or overly commercial advertising.
- How many people will see my items?
- There are between 1000 and 2000 visits each month to each of the Job Vacancies, Training and 'Managing Well' resource sections, and up to 4000 to the News.
All new listings appear on the home page — seen by thousands more, and we are well indexed by major search engines, so many more will see the key details. Take advantage of this by including the key elements of the job in your description.
- Will they be the right people?
- Although general sites get a lot more visitors, CommunityNet is designed for people working in the community and voluntary sector — or wanting to. A popular ad may be viewed 200 times in a week.
- Will it appear anywhere else?
- We mention all new items in the weekly update and monthly Panui we email out. Most items also appear in our RSS Feed.
- I've already got the details formatted in a document. Can I email that to you?
- Yes. We still prefer you to fill out all the initial form fields. That way is quicker for us, there's no chance of you leaving out any key details, and even if your email falls foul of an over-zealous virus scanner we have the basic information. After submitting you'll see the Confirmation page. Click on the link for supplementary information and attach your document to the email it generates.

- How can I quickly enter several notices?
(a) If the notice is for a repeating event just include the future schedule in the text and as each event happens, we'll update the event and re-list it for you. It helps us if you put 'monthly' or 'quarterly' in the title field.
(b) If you have several similar notices of the same type:
-
- 'Submit' the first
- Wait until the confirmation page is displayed
- Return to the Submit form (click on the Browser 'Back' button or press 'Alt' and right arrow keys together)
- Change the forms fields as needed for the next notice.
- 'Submit' the new notice
- Repeat from 2 as needed.

How long does it take?
We usually check and update the notices every 2 working days. Resources (and sometimes other notices) take a bit longer, but we are conscious that jobs often need filling fast, and events often have a short lead-time.
- Do I have to ask for an advert to be taken down?
- No, for short-lived items like job vacancies, our system automatically removes the notice on the set date. Even if your item doesn't have a fixed closing date — for example, an ongoing call for volunteers — please still give a closing date. People just won't look at a notice that sits there for months; one month is often enough. You can send in a fresh notice once the current one has expired, preferably with new wording, e.g. emphasizing different aspects of the volunteer positions. We may add a closing date if you don't supply one.
- News items, resources and web links do not expire, but news items are moved to an archive page every year. Web links are periodically checked and broken links corrected or removed.
- What if I want a notice removed or changed?
- Contact us with your change and we'll make it as soon as possible.
- Where else on the web should I advertise?
- If it is a voluntary job, list with it Volunteering NZ. Also check out the sites in the Employment links (especially page 2).
- Is my contact information kept private?
- The contact information you send in will be published on the Internet for all to see. While we won't misuse it, others may 'harvest' it and use it for spam. So it's best to use a generic email address like vacancy@yourgroup.org.nz or info@myiwi.maori.nz instead of your personal email.
- How can you do it free?
- CommunityNet Aotearoa is maintained by the Department of Internal Affairs as a community service.
